webbed feet gardeners

Verns bit.
We have now organised ourselves to work 1 day a week and 3 days the following week. This allows us Tuesday morning to Sunday night to take off somewhere.
Ireland was our first excursion with Tony King (Blenheim). The ferry is very luxurious compared to the Cook Strait ferry and took our car. Stayed at B&B’s. The Irish are friendly and were most helpful. One guy we asked directions from, drove his car, us following, for at least ½ hr, needless to say we didn’t find the people we intended to visit.
Next time we come I’m going to take up weather forecasting. Can’t get it wrong. Predict rain, and you get it whether you want it or not. Consequently we have had to work in the rain, as the grass keeps growing. Makes it easier for the moles and rabbits to dig!! The moles certainly make a mess and we don’t think they like it when we squash down their heap of dirt with the mower. Last night we saw a badger, quite a big animal. There are squirrels and rabbits around the property.
The Pub is the local meeting place where we have met some interesting people , on Tuesday we are going to help them by painting their new extention (the dunnies)
Its interesting to note that the average Brit walks 900 miles per year, and drinks 22 gallons of beer. Thus is getting 42 miles per gallon. Slightly better than our mighty Vauxhall.
Like Marlborough we have had floods this weekend. We hit the flood waters of the Severn river(at 5.45am and dark and raining0) at 40mph. We just kept going and made it through. The road has been closed, but we didn’t know as we live between the barriers.
